Electrical Hardware and Software

The brain of the vehicle.

Displayed is the flow chart of the on board computer system of the AEVS and all of its interfaces. The Raspberry Pi 4 will communicate with the steering components of the vehicle, sending it commands through a series of steps that involve other electrical components as well. Cameras and Lidar sensors will also be implemented for surveillance and obstacle detection. Read more about hardware selections below.

Jetson TX2

On Board Computer System

The on board computer system of the AEV will use the Jetson TX2 as its CPU.It is a high functioning CPU suitable for artificial intelligence.

Autonomous GPS Tracking

High Performance

Team Bowbot's AEV will autonomously traverse its paths throughout upper campus without any manual help. To achieve this, a GPS tracking device will be implemented into the vehicle and will communicate with the on board computer system in order to autonomously track where to go. This will all be programmed using the COSMOS software. Click here to learn more about the COSMOS software.

HexCamera

State of the Art

As the AEV makes its way around campus, it is bound to encounter plenty of obstacles and people in its path. In order to detect and avoid these obstacles, e-con systems HexCamera sensors will be added to the electrical hardware of the vehicle. HexCameras are able to detect 3D objects in rain and is compatible with the Jetson TX2.
